Glimpses is an emotional journey which depicts one Hounslow woman’s experience of being diagnosed with dementia, through to living with the condition and the impact it has on those who care for her.

The four-minute-long movie was filmed in Hounslow by Capture Minds, a local production company. Whilst the piece uses actors to portray the central characters, the themes it touches upon are very real.

Glimpses was used as the focal point for Hounslow’s Dementia Action Week, which took place in May was along with a borough-wide awareness-raising event.

The film enjoyed a special premiere showing to an invited audience at Hounslow House and has since picked up many rave reviews for residents of the borough, social care professionals and commentators.

The Aesthetica Film Festival runs between November 8 and 12, 2023 and is a qualifying event for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards.

Hounslow Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Public Health and Transformation, Councillor Samia Chaudhary, said: “We are delighted with the news that our video will be shown as part of this industry-leading film festival.

“We produced Glimpses as a love letter to our borough. As a way of people to think about dementia in a new way and to encourage people to enter into meaningful conversations about the condition and its affects on the lives of everyone it touches.

“Our central message for this piece was: In Hounslow, you are never alone, and it is wonderful to think that this ground-breaking film will now, will now, quite rightly, be shared with an even bigger audience.”

Glimpses director Lauren Midwinter said of the news: “It's a real testament to the hard work of the film's cast and crew that our film is screening at such a well-thought-of film festival. It's exciting to be sharing it with more audiences."
