Think Equal is a global movement founded by celebrated actor, director and BAFTA award winner, Leslee Udwin.
The Think Equal global award-winning programme promotes social and emotional learning (SEL) for children aged between 3 and 6, equipping them with essential skills for a bright future.
Hounslow schools have been offered the chance to join in and the successful program has run in Hounslow for two years, with over 70 classrooms already participating.
This coming academic year will mark the third and final year for schools to sign up to the program and integrate the lessons and home learning into students' education.
Councillor Samia Chaudhary, Cabinet Member for Education, Children, Skills and Employment at Hounslow Council, said:
As a Council, we are committed to supporting the well-being and development of our youngest learners. I encourage all schools in Hounslow to join the 70 others already enrolled in the Think Equal programme. This initiative provides invaluable tools for nurturing emotional intelligence and resilience in our children, setting them on a path to success both in school and in life.
Funded by British Airways, schools across Hounslow will be able to access the following free resources:
- 24 Narrative Picture Books: engaging stories that capture children's imaginations.
- 90 Lesson Plans: carefully structured lessons to guide educators in fostering a positive learning environment focused on empathy, resilience, and emotional awareness.
- More than 50 Resources: a variety of tools and activities to enhance learning and integrate SEL across various aspects of school life.
- Self-paced, online training: access to comprehensive training for teachers, ensuring seamless implementation of the programme.
Carrie Harris, Director of Sustainability at British Airways, said: “We’re delighted to support Think Equal as part of our BA Better World Community Fund. Our fund strives to support organisations and social enterprise groups that deliver benefits and life-changing opportunities for the communities we serve around the UK. By working with Think Equal, we’re able to support the charity in implementing their brilliant education programmes in schools to help give children the best start in life.”
Schools can sign up to the programme and anyone interested in learning more about the benefits of implementing the program in the classroom can watch this interview with a local schoolteacher.
