Hounslow residents are set to get more flexibility when dropping off recycling and domestic waste, as the council trials relaxed booking rules at its Space Waye reuse and recycling centre.

Starting Monday 9 March, Hounslow Council is simplifying access to the borough’s Space Waye reuse and recycling centre.

For the next six months, the council will run a trial that removes the need for advance bookings on quieter days — specifically Monday to Thursday (excluding Bank Holiday Mondays).

This means locals can simply turn up during those times without reserving a slot in advance.

Bookings will still be required on the busier days: Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Bank Holiday Mondays.

Cllr Shivraj Grewal, Cabinet Member for Infrastructure, Recycling and Transformation, said:

We know that residents lead busy lives and it’s not always easy to plan ahead for a trip to the recycling centre. That’s why we’re introducing this trial to provide more flexibility, allowing people to visit without booking from Monday to Thursday while keeping bookings in place on our busiest days.

Spacewaye plays an important role in helping residents recycle more and reduce waste, and we hope these changes will make it even easier for people to use the site while ensuring it continues to run smoothly.

The trial aims to make recycling more convenient for people juggling packed schedules, while still keeping things running efficiently at the site.

Residents are reminded to always bring proof of address and a photo ID when visiting.
