Help us contain the Oak Processionary Moth!

Attention all Park goers

Hounslow Council are advising all visitors to our parks and open spaces to be aware of the oak processionary moth (OPM).

OPM nests on oak trees during spring and is usually active between May and July.

OPM caterpillars and nests affect the health of people and animals, as they contain hairs which can cause itchy rashes, eye and throat irritations and occasionally breathing difficulties in both people and animals.

Anyone displaying symptoms including skin or eye irritations following possible OPM caterpillars reactions should visit a pharmacist, or call NHS 111 for more-serious reactions. Contact a vet if an animal is affected.

Please be aware and report any OPM to the Forestry Commission via the Tree Alert online form

The Oak Processionary Moth - public information leaflet covers the key facts, identification and control of OPM.
