You can request a memorial bench or memorial tree through Lampton Services Greenspace. A memorial can be in:
- parks
- open spaces
- cemeteries
- allotments
The space must be either owned or managed by the London Borough of Hounslow. If the location you request is not managed by us, you need to contact the relevant landowner or team. We will do our best to advise you on the next steps.
The position you request needs to be suitable for the placement of a memorial bench or tree.
The memorial bench or tree is considered a donation to public space, to be enjoyed by everyone.
A donated item will be managed as council property. This means we reserve the right to remove or relocate the item if it is deemed a hazard to the public.
Memorial bench
We supply the Blackburn ‘Anti-Vandal’ Seat. This is an all-metal bench in RAL black and comes with a brass memorial plaque.
We can only fit plaques to these benches. We cannot fit new plaques to existing benches.
We will notify you when the bench is installed and you can hold a small family gathering if you wish. We cannot provide an unveiling event. For any event which is to be advertised or could attract a large number of people, you would need to make an event request.
Costs
A memorial bench on an existing concrete pad costs £1,387.09 including VAT.
Memorial tree
A request for a memorial tree needs to be assessed by the Greenspace Arboriculture Manager. They will determine whether a tree can be planted at the requested location and which species is most suitable. They will consider site conditions such as:
- soil type
- existing vegetation
- available space
Some locations may not have capacity for additional trees. Final approval rests with the Greenspace Arboriculture Manager.
We may arrange a site visit with you before approval to confirm the location and details.
Cost
A memorial tree costs £690 including VAT.

We will respond to your request within 14 working days.
If we agree your request, you will then have 14 working days to make payment.
How long you might wait
Installation of a memorial bench may take up to three months, depending on availability.
Planting of a memorial tree planting depends on our tree planting policy and the planting season for the tree species. This will be between October and March).
