Donate a memorial bench or tree

Lampton Services Greenspace offer a donation of park furniture service to members of the public.

These items include:

These items are for Parks, Open Spaces and Cemeteries which are either owned or managed by the London Borough of Hounslow on request and where suitable opportunities exist.

Where memorial items can be placed

You can request a memorial bench or tree in the following locations, provided they are part of the London Borough of Hounslow Parks portfolio:

  • parks
  • open spaces
  • cemeteries
  • allotments

If the location you request is not managed by us, you will need to contact the relevant landowner or team directly. We will do our best to advise you on the next steps.

Memorial Bench

We currently supply one bench type only. This is the Blackburn ‘Anti-Vandal’ Seat, which is an all-metal bench in RAL black and comes with a brass memorial plaque.

Plaques can only be fitted to new Blackburn ‘Anti-Vandal’ benches. We cannot fit new plaques to existing benches.

If a new pad is needed, we will arrange a site visit with you and a Greenspace representative to agree the location. In some cases, a new pad may not be suitable; we may then explore using an existing pad instead.

After installation, we are unable to provide an unveiling event. You will be notified on completion of the bench being installed and can hold a small family gathering if you wish. Any event which is to be advertised or could attract a large number of people would need to be agreed with our Events team first.

  • £1,387.09 – on existing concrete pad
  • £1,778.64 – on new concrete pad

Memorial Tree

All memorial tree requests are assessed by the Greenspace Arboriculture Manager. They will determine whether a tree can be planted at the requested location and which species is most suitable. This decision is based on site conditions such as soil type, existing vegetation and available space. Some locations may not have capacity for additional trees. Final approval rests with the Greenspace Arboriculture Manager.

Planting takes place during the appropriate planting season (October to March), so the timing of planting may vary depending on when your request is approved.

After you've made a request

After you make your request, we will respond to your application within 14 working days.

If your donation request is agreed, you will then have 14 working days to make the payment.

How long you might wait

Installation of a memorial bench may take up to 3 months, depending on availability.

The timing of memorial tree planting will depend on our tree planting policy and the planting season. We may arrange a site visit with you before approval to confirm the location and details.

Each item that is donated will be managed as Council property and we reserve the right to remove or relocate any donated items if deemed a hazard to the public.
