Trees in parks
Trees are a very significant feature in Hounslow's parks and open spaces. They provide benefits for visitors and to the overall environment. To ensure that trees continue to contribute to the landscape it is essential that we think about their health and safety.
Trees in the borough's parks, open spaces, cemeteries and allotments are maintained by Lampton Services Greenspace on behalf of the council. We ensure that the trees are managed in accordance with arboricultural best practices and legislation.
For further information please contact them in the first instance through our online form.

Help look after new trees
During spells of warm weather in the spring and summer you can help by pouring any left-over water in your water bottle directly around the base of any new trees on your way out of the park.
You can also help by reporting damaged or vandalised trees. We encourage you to pick ripe fruits from orchards in some of our parks, but please don't break branches as this can stunt new growth.
Removing trees
Our policy is to only remove trees when absolutely necessary, for example when they are dead, dying or dangerous. We aim to replace removed trees during our winter tree planting programme, although it is not always possible to re-plant in the same location.
Oak processionary moth
We advise visitors to our parks and open spaces to be aware of the oak processionary moth (OPM).
OPM nests on oak trees during spring and is usually active between May and July. The hairs of OPM caterpillars and nests can cause itchy rashes, eye and throat irritations and occasionally breathing difficulties in people and animals. Anyone displaying symptoms should visit a pharmacist, or call NHS 111 for more serious reactions. Contact a vet if an animal is affected.
Read about the key facts, identification and control of OPM (from Forest Research).
You can notify the Forest Research agency of OPM by sending a Tree Alert report.
