Building Safety Levy (BSL)
BSL overview
The Building Safety Levy is a charge on new residential buildings in England, created under the Building Safety Act 2022, to help fund the remediation of building safety defects such as cladding issues. It will be liable on building control applications submitted on or after 1 October 2026.
BSL rates
The levy rate for Hounslow is £58.29 per square metre. On previously developed land the rate is £29.15 These rates are set by Government, based on their calculations of average house prices.

How to pay
Payments will be made online via the GovService Portal using a reference code provided during the application process.
