Parents and carers of primary school children in Hounslow will now have more opportunities to access to ‘wraparound’ childcare before and after school.

Across Hounslow before and after school childcare places have increased to a total of 4,080 places, with more expected to become available from January 2025. Families can claim discount for these childcare fees if eligibly by using either Tax Free Childcare or Universal Credit Childcare.
Wraparound childcare is before and after school childcare for primary school aged children in England. Also known as breakfast clubs and after-school clubs, the childcare usually runs from 8am until 6pm during term time. They run on a school site or another local setting such as a community centre, a nursery, or a childminder.
These new childcare spaces will offer flexibility for working parents, providing them the opportunity to pursue full-time or part-time job opportunities.
Councillor Samia Chaudhary, Cabinet Member for Education, Children, Skills, and Employment at Hounslow Council, said:
“I’m thrilled to see so many schools in the borough taking part in this initiative. It’s my hope that the new “wraparound” support will broaden parents’ work choices, while improved childcare can only increase the potential of successful early education.”
The expansion is part of the government’s national scheme, which aims to offer stimulating activities for schoolchildren and provide healthy snack for children.
