The team taking part in Brentford Community Day

Hounslow Council's Brentford Community Development Network (CDN) recently teamed up to organise Brentford Community Day.

This celebration of community spirit, culture and collaboration took place in Brentford Market Square, on Sunday, 14 September.

The Council has been working with local charities, community group and small businesses across Hounslow, to form seven, new hyper-local CDNs. These local groups lead the networks, chairing them and deciding on shared goals, such as creating partnerships, sharing learning and resources, and supporting each other.

The Mayor of Hounslow, Councillor Amy Croft, opened Brentford Community Day, which brought together 22 stalls showcasing the strengths of community spirit in Brentford. Community organisations and charities included The Mulberry Centre, Speak Out, and Brentford Voice. They were joined by students from Brentford School for Girls and small businesses and local caterers.

Brentford Community Development Network was central to the success of the event, connecting charities, schools, and businesses with residents.

Hounslow Council’s CDNs encourage local groups to support one another, drawing from valuable local insight, and with help from council officers and external partners.

Mark Kehoe, Brentford Voice Member and Lead Organiser said:

Brentford Community Day gave residents the chance to connect with local community groups, learn about the incredible work taking place, and discover how they could get involved as volunteers, supporters, or participants. The event proved that working together, supporting one another’s strengths, and sharing experiences are key to building a thriving local community.

Mayor of Hounslow Cllr Amy Croft added:

I’d like to thank and congratulate our Brentford CDN, Brentford Voice, and all the wonderful community groups who worked together to bring about this lovely community day. The community spirit in Brentford is truly inspirational with the day highlighting what is possible when local voices, ideas and action come together.
