Rubbish, waste and recycling

Waiting for a Blue Paper Bag?

We are awaiting delivery of new blue paper bags and will deliver all outstanding requests from Monday 27 October 2014. In the meantime, please place all paper for recycling in your green box. Thank you.

Wheeleed bin extension

Residents in some parts of the borough have been using wheelie bins for their household rubbish for a number of months.  We are now extending this to other parts of the borough and if your household is included, you will have received or will shortly receive a letter advising this.

If you are a larger family or household with more than six people or you are a family of four or more with a child under the age of two then you can request a larger bin than the standard 140 litre size.

Please note that this form is only for residents living in the wheeled bin extension area and have received a letter. If you do not live in one of these areas then your request will be refused.

Also note: If you do live in the wheeled bin area but do not meet the criteria outlined above then you will not be eligible for a larger bin.

Rubbish, waste and recycling

SITA UK is responsible for the collection of all rubbish and recycling in the London Borough of Hounslow, whether you live in a house or a flat. They also provide the bulky waste collection service Tidy Town, collections of recycling from the recycling sites across the borough and clinical waste collections, for residents who are referred for this service. We continue to manage our reuse and recycling centre - Space Waye.

We offer one of the most comprehensive recycling services in London, allowing residents who live in houses and flats to recycle a wide range of items.

Residents are now recycling more than 36% of their waste, and this means that the amount of rubbish that we throw into landfill is dropping. This is great news for the environment, helping to reduce landscape destruction and loss of natural habitats and wildlife. It also helps to reduce emissions of methane, which is global warming gas with an impact 23 times stronger than carbon dioxide! Reducing and recycling your waste also helps conserve natural resources like oil, and save energy. So do your bit by recycling as much as possible.and reducing your waste.

Follow the links on the left to find out more about recycling, waste reduction and responsibly disposing of your waste within the borough.
