Hounslow Council

Rubbish, waste and recycling

Suez (formally SITA) is responsible for the collection of all rubbish and recycling in the London Borough of Hounslow, whether you live in a house or a flat. They also provide the bulky waste collection service Tidy Town, collections of recycling from the recycling sites across the borough and clinical waste collections, for residents who are referred for this service. We continue to manage our reuse and recycling centre - Space Waye.

Ordering a new recycling container?

If you’re ordering a blue paper bag, these are currently on order and there may be a short delay of up to five working days before you receive one. If you are waiting for a blue paper bag, please place your paper and card in your green recycling box for collection.

If you’ve requested a white plastics sack, these are on order. In the meantime, anyone requesting a white sack will be given ten clear plastic bags. These should be used to recycle all plastic which would ordinarily be placed inside your white sack. We will deliver you a white plastic sack once they arrive, around the beginning of June.

Reordering a garden waste sack?

Due to changes to the garden waste service from April 2016, we are no longer issuing green garden waste sacks.

If you have biodegradable garden waste sacks, please use these by 1 April 2016 as they will not be collected after this date.

Recycling in Hounslow

We offer one of the most comprehensive recycling services in London, allowing residents who live in houses and flats to recycle a wide range of items.

Residents are now recycling more than 36% of their waste, and this means that the amount of rubbish that we throw into landfill is dropping. This is great news for the environment, helping to reduce landscape destruction and loss of natural habitats and wildlife. It also helps to reduce emissions of methane, which is global warming gas with an impact 23 times stronger than carbon dioxide! Reducing and recycling your waste also helps conserve natural resources like oil, and save energy. So do your bit by recycling as much as possible.and reducing your waste.
