Allotments

Allotments Improvement Programme 2023-2025

Allotments are a vital community resource, offering opportunities to grow fresh produce, improve health and wellbeing, develop new skills, and bring people together.

In Hounslow, our vision is to “maximise their value for health and well-being, stronger communities, biodiversity and sustainable living.”

Building on the Allotment Strategy 2020-2025, the Council and Lampton Greenspace committed to a two-year programme of investment to enhance allotments across the borough.  Funding from the Capital Investment Programme enabled us to deliver improvements that directly respond to the needs and ideas of allotment societies, plot holders, the police, and other key stakeholders.

Timeline of Improvements:

The improvement works took place from October 2023 to December 2025

What we delivered

The programme delivered a range of upgrades designed to make our allotments more accessible, secure, and enjoyable for all plot holders; these changes were based on site-by-site review and need.

Upgrades such as:

  • New site signage: In line with the Parks signage refresh

Sign on a wire fence reading ‘Saxon Avenue Allotment’, featuring colorful leaf and gardening tool illustrations.

  • Accessibility improvements: New gate entrances

Green metal gate set into a brick wall and fence, opening from a pavement into a secured outdoor area with trees behind.

  • Enhanced water provision: Upgraded water facilities
  • Security upgrades: New padlocks and keys issued to plot holders
  • Hatton Road: Replacement Fencing

Footpath beside a new green metal fence, with fallen leaves on the ground and a road visible beyond the fence.

  • Faggs Road North Allotment: Creation of new plots to increase capacity and support growing demand for allotment spaces, as well as a new community garden in partnership with the Grow for the Future Project.
