Resident parking permits

Overview

You need to apply for a resident permit to park your vehicle if you live in a controlled parking zone (CPZ).

A permit lasts one year. You can also apply for a four-week temporary resident permit if you either:

Diesel surcharge

There is a surcharge for resident permits for diesel vehicles. This is because diesel vehicles are worse for the environment than petrol vehicles.

Change your permit

If you are changing vehicles or moving to another parking zone, you will need to request a change to your permit. 

If you are using a courtesy car while your normal vehicle is being serviced, you will need to request free temporary cover for that vehicle.

Cancellation, refunds and replacements

You can contact us to cancel a permit, request a refund on a permit or request a replacement paper permit.

You can claim a refund if three months or more are left until the permit's expiry date. This is calculated based on the period of time left on the permit and is subject to a £20 administration fee.
