Marketplace for Safe in Hounslow

To help mark Safeguarding Adults Week, Hounslow Council is hosting “Safe in Hounslow” across two days. This event is dedicated to raising awareness of safeguarding adults and will take place on Monday, 18 November, and Tuesday, 19 November, from 10 am to 2 pm at Hounslow House.

“Safe in Hounslow” will bring together Council services, local charities, providers, and residents to share valuable information on staying safe in various aspects of life, including relationships, finances, home, work, online, and while out in the borough. This is a fantastic opportunity for our residents to learn more about safeguarding adults, with useful giveaways available across both days, including magnets, room thermometers, pens, and trolley coins.

There is no need to sign up, simply turn up on either of the days.

The event on Tuesday will also include the “The Great Slipper Swap.” Residents are encouraged to bring in their old, worn-out slippers and exchange them for a brand-new pair, free of charge. The new slippers provided feature secure fastenings and sturdy soles, which will help prevent serious injury from falls.

The core theme of Adult Safeguarding Week this year is Working in Partnership. The “Safe in Hounslow” event will shine a spotlight on Safeguarding Adults, share knowledge, learn from each other, and ultimately create safer cultures within communities.

There will be an exciting line-up of local organisations in attendance including:

Along with representatives from Hounslow Council teams that include:

  • Adult Social Care
  • Hounslow Safeguarding Board
  • The Community Safety Team
  • The Community Provisions Team
  • The Falls Prevention Project
  • The Health Outreach Team

The ASC (Adult Social Care) Community Information Team will also be attending with The Gazebo, an Adult Social Care Information ‘pop-up’ shop, to provide residents with information, advice on their care and support options, and answers to any specific questions.

Councillor Lily Bath, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Public Health, and Health Integration at Hounslow Council, said:

“I would like to encourage our residents to come along to these marketplace events. I look forward to seeing all these fantastic teams and organisations from around the borough come together to raise awareness of safeguarding, share information and guidance with our residents, ensuring that they feel safe and know how to report any concerns around safeguarding. This vital information can help to create a safer borough for all.

“I’m grateful to all the organisations who have agreed to join us for this enlightening day of information sharing and cooperation in partnership.”
