About Mayor Afzaal Kiani
Mayor Kianni was first elected as a Councillor for the Hounslow Heath Ward in 2018.
He was born and raised in Rawalpindi in Pakistan and moved to the UK in 1986 as a student. After completing his law degree he started work as a Community Advisor for a local organisation funded by the Islington Council.
Councillor Kianni has also worked for the Civil Service in various departments which has enabled him to have a broad knowledge and experience of dealing with people from diverse backgrounds. He has also been a school governor since 1990 and has held various senior positions on the respective boards of governors.
He has served on various Committees and Panels for the Council and sat as Chair and Vice Chair of the Housing and Environment Scrutiny Panel.
Councillor Kiani has lived in the borough since 1998. He is married and has four children.
