About us

Head of Childrens services, Jacqui McShannon

Message from Jacqui McShannon, Director of Safeguarding and Specialist Services

Thank you for your interest in Children’s Services in Hounslow. I am delighted to be able to share with you what makes me incredibly proud to lead such a talented and committed workforce who are making a real difference to the lives of children and young people in the borough.

In coming to Hounslow, you would be joining an organisation where everybody counts, is valued and has a contribution to make. In Hounslow, we have a big emphasis on learning and development which is intrinsic to everything we do. We are proud of our strong ASYE programme which receives good feedback from participants.  We are also part of the West London Step Up to Social Work programme and Teaching Partnership.

We believe that our approach to learning and development are central to the improvements we have made for children and young people and that they provide us with the foundations for the next stage of our journey

In November 2018, Ofsted rated the overall effectiveness of Hounslow’s Children’s Service as Good. HMIP also judged the Youth Offending Service to be Good across all domains with some outstanding features.

We are passionate about delivering high quality services to children and young people, to hearing their voices, and to continuously improving their outcomes.  As a social worker in Hounslow you would be key to realising this ambition.

You would be joining a stable workforce where morale is high, and managers are supportive and accessible.

As a result, if you are aspirational for children and for your own development, you can be confident of finding a caring and thoughtful environment where you will grow as a social worker in Hounslow.
