About the programme
The Democracy Ambassadors Programme isn’t just about learning in classroom - it’s about leading. You’ll gain real-world experience, meet inspiring people, and take on projects that make a difference in your school or community.
Workshops and field trips
You will take part in three workshops that break down how democracy works in practice.
You will also visit one of London’s legislative chambers, where important decisions are made. More details about this visit will be shared soon.
During the programme, you will meet inspiring guest speakers such as:
- elected officials
- local government officers
- community engagement specialists
You will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions, share ideas, and make your voice heard.
Group presentation
During the second half of the programme, you’ll team up with three other Democracy Ambassadors to to delve deeper into different aspects of democracy, which you will then present to your peers.
Topics may include:
- The history of democratic movements
- The origins of democracy
- Electoral systems and how they work
Your group will present your work at the end of the programme. You will receive one-to-one support and guidance throughout to help develop your ideas and presentation.
Your individual project
As part of your application, you’ll design your very own project to engage your friends, classmates, or local community in democracy.
Your project could include activities such as:
- organising a mock election
- running a voter registration campaign
- hosting discussions about democracy
Over the summer you’ll bring your project to life in a school or community setting, with support from the Electoral Services team.
Showcase your experience
To complete the programme, you’ll reflect on your journey in a short report. Your report should detail what you have learned, what you have achieved, and describe how your perceptions of democracy have changed.
