Help us work towards Vision 2050: Be a Good Ancestor

Vision 2050 was adopted by Cabinet and Council in November 2025. The Vision 2050 document is available here.

Vision 2050 offers a compass to the future – a set of ideas and commitments supported by relationships to help us make decisions to stay aligned with our strategic intent. While it recognises that the future is uncertain, it encourages collaboration, imagination, and long-term thinking.

Stakeholders are encouraged to play their part: residents by sharing ideas and supporting local initiatives, businesses by embedding sustainability and inclusive practices, the council by fostering long-term thinking and inclusive workplaces, and partners by collaborating and using their influence to anticipate challenges. Together, we are good ancestors with a collective commitment to create a thriving, fair, and sustainable Hounslow for decades to come.

The Hounslow Collective Imagination Huddle

(September 2025 to March 2026)

Promotion for 'The Hounslow Collective Imagination Huddle' - a 6-month learning journey exploring deep visioning with Hounslow communities.

This autumn, Hounslow launched its first-ever Collective Imagination Huddle. Bringing together council staff, local community members, and experienced imagination practitioners, the group will take forward and put into practice some of the work that began as part of Vision 2050. They are exploring themes of care, ageing, life transitions, and our relationship with time.

Collective imagination practice involves critically examining the dominant narratives surrounding social issues including those local authorities work on, such as health and social care. It challenges currently accepted views by exploring new perspectives to see the same things differently.

The Huddle is hosted by practitioner Jake Garber and funded by the Jospeh Rowntree Foundation. It is an opportunity for participants to spark fresh ideas around some of our Borough’s most complex and urgent challenges. Already, the Huddle has generated a powerful sense of energy and connection among its diverse participants.

This initiative reflects Hounslow Council’s commitment to long term thinking, collaborative learning and partnership with the community. It is helping to further the ideas behind Vision 2050 and use imagination as a transformative tool for nurturing flourishing, resilient places.

Collective Imagination Learning Group

(January to March 2026)

The Collective Imagination Learning Group is a crosscouncil officer space to explore new ways of working with complexity and change. It brings colleagues together to learn practical imagination techniques, connect with others working differently, and reflect on how we can create a culture that enables creativity, collaboration and bold thinking in our everyday work.
