Residential cycle parking
For many residents, the lack of secure and easily accessible bike storage can be a barrier towards using their bike on a regular basis. We have therefore set up a scheme to offer residents of the borough an option to have a bike hangar installed.
Designed and manufactured by Cyclehoop, the bike hangar offers a secure solution to long-term cycle parking and an effective way to protect bikes from adverse weather conditions and vandalism. This product stores six bikes within half the space of a car parking bay, making it ideal for areas where outdoor cycle storage space is necessary. For example in areas with a high density of flats or terraced houses.
We finance the cost of installation through our annual funding allocated to cycle parking from Transport for London. The allocation and management of spaces within the bike hangar is managed by our contractor, Cyclehoop. There are six spaces available per hanger, and the newly agreed annual cost for residents is £40, plus a refundable key deposit payable to Cyclehoop.
How to apply for residential cycle parking
To apply for a new bikehangar location, we ask residents to complete a short eform. We request that residents demonstrate support for the hangar on their street amongst residents. We’ll then assess the best location for the hangar, draw up a plan and consult locally to gauge feedback. Due to the budget available, new hangar locations will be prioritised based on demand and local access to existing bike storage space.

You will need to enter your address to find the nearest bike hangar. The website will also show you the current waiting list size for each hangar, so you can see how long you may need to wait before a space becomes available.
