This practical and welcoming session is for parents and carers who want to better understand sensory needs and explore simple, realistic ways to support their children’s wellbeing at home and in school. You don’t need any prior knowledge — just an interest in learning more and sharing ideas with others.

  • Location: The Arts Centre Hounslow, First Floor, Treaty Centre, High Street, Hounslow, TW3 1ES
  • Time: 10:15am to 12:30pm

During the session, you’ll explore:

  • What sensory needs are and how they can show up in everyday life
  • How to recognise sensory stress and respond in supportive ways
  • Small changes at home (and in school) that can make a big difference
  • Practical sensory activities that can help with regulation, focus, and wellbeing
  • How to start building your own action plan using ideas that feel manageable for your family

You’ll also have the chance to try out some hands-on sensory activities and be introduced to simple audit tools that can help you think about sensory environments and individual needs.

The session will be led by Alice Hoyle, an experienced education consultant specialising in sensory inclusion. Alice is also a neurodivergent parent herself and brings both professional expertise and lived experience. She has worked in schools and local authorities for over 20 years and is co-author of Becoming a Sensory-Aware School: A Toolkit to Develop a Whole School Approach for Sensory Wellbeing.

Please bring an internet-enabled phone or tablet so you can take part fully in the interactive elements.
