School clothing grants

Overview

You may be eligible for a grant to help pay for school uniform and other school clothing.

We administer grants for families living in Hounslow.

The grant is payable to:

  • primary school children in reception to year 6
  • secondary school children in years 7 and 9

For primary school clothing grants, there is a limit of two applications per household.

For secondary school grants, there is no household limit. There is one payment available per child in year 7 and one payment available per child in year 9.

The grant pays:

  • £15 per child in primary school
  • £60 per child in secondary school

We ask for your bank details during your application and make payment by BACS.

Eligibility

You may be entitled to a school clothing grant if either:

  • you are being supported by the National Asylum Support Service (NASS)
  • you have no recourse to public funds (NRPF)
  • your household receives either:
    • Income Support
    • income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
    • income-related Employment and Support Allowance
    • Universal Credit with a household income of less than £7,400 per year after tax and not including any benefit you receive. This equates to a net earned monthly income of £616 or below.
    • Child Tax Credit, as long as your annual gross income is no more than £16,190. For the primary school grant, you must not also be entitled to Working Tax Credit. For the secondary school grant, you can be receiving or entitled to Child Tax Credit or Working Tax Credit, or both. 
    • the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
