A doctor parking permit allows a doctor to park in:
- resident bays in controlled parking zones (CPZs)
- shared use bays in CPZs (where resident permits are acceptable)
- off-street car parks run by the council
A doctor cannot use a doctor parking permit:
- outside their normal working hours, except in the course of official duty
- for leisure activities and non-operational matters, like training
- in private parking areas not enforced by the London Borough of Hounslow
Permit charge
The permit costs £399 and is valid for 12 months.
After your application has been processed, the permit team will telephone you to take payment.

- the address of your medical practice, for example:
- lease agreement
- NNDR bill or statement
- NHS contract
- utility bill
- your employment at this practice
- vehicle ownership

Change your permit
You can change the details on your permit. You need to contact us by email to request this.
A change to your permit costs £24.50.
Cancellation and refunds
You can claim a refund if three months or more are left until the permit's expiry date. This is calculated based on the period of time left on the permit and is subject to a £20 administration fee.

- Any person who has one or more outstanding Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) with the London Borough of Hounslow will not qualify for a permit, until such time as the PCNs are paid in full. This excludes cases that are at appeal with the Independent Adjudicator.
- Doctors Permits are valid for use in:
- Resident parking bays • Shared use bays (where Resident parking permits are acceptable) • Car Parks operated by the London Borough of Hounslow Doctors Permits are not valid for use: • outside the normal working hours of the holder, except in the course of official duty • during leisure activities • on operational matters such as training • in private parking areas not enforced by the London Borough of Hounslow
- The issue of a permit does not guarantee a parking space
- Doctors’ parking permits are valid for one year.
- The permit is only valid for the vehicle registration number shown on the permit.
- If the permit is surrendered you will qualify for a pro-rata refund if three months or more are left to the expiry date. This is subject to a £20 administration fee.
