Hounslow Council are celebrating Carers Week from Monday 8 June with daily activities for the borough’s caring community.
There are around 19,000 unpaid carers supporting loved ones, friends, or neighbours in Hounslow. Carers Week, from 8-14 June, is a chance to celebrate these selfless individuals and the people they care for with events across the borough that offer respite and the opportunity to meet people with similar experiences.
Activities are in person and online, including events in Chiswick, Feltham, and Isleworth - check what’s going on near you via the Eventbrite link: https://tinyurl.com/yc5fjtsc
Councillor Lily Bath, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Adult Social Care commented:
“Unpaid carers play a vital role every day, supporting family members, friends, and neighbours. Their contribution is invaluable, yet often unrecognised.
“In Hounslow, we want carers to feel seen and supported. That’s why we have the Hounslow Carers Service, which offers advice, practical support, and regular community events in venues across the borough from Chiswick to Feltham.
“There is also a wider depth of support available, including Carers Assessments, Carers Direct Payments, and the Short Breaks service, helping carers take time for themselves.
“Throughout this week, we’re hosting a series of events for unpaid carers to attend and enjoy. These offer a chance to take a break, meet others, and build connections that can make a real difference.
“If you are a carer or think you might be one, please remember that you are not alone. Support is here for you, and we encourage you to reach out.”
Hayley, a Feltham resident who helps to care for her father added: “It’s reassuring to know that carers like me are recognised and that’s there’s support out there because having to be a carer and a daughter can be a challenging situation. That’s also why the carer cafes are important, as you meet people in the same boat - I’ve really enjoyed the one local to me.”
Lampton Leisure are also offering unpaid carers a FREE 3-day pass to use at any of their sites in Hounslow – check the link for full details: https://rb.gy/h02zma
Meanwhile, attendees can receive 100 BetterPoints for coming along to Carers Week events. These can be exchanged for high street and Amazon vouchers. Anyone can download the app for free.
