3,500 local people are estimated to benefit from the funding, which will support residents with their health and wellbeing.

Last month Hounslow Council has awarded nearly £300k to 14 local community groups and charities as part of its Thriving Communities Funding programme, which provides thousands of pounds to local charities, community initiatives and infrastructure projects each year.

Some of the charities that received funding include:

  • London Borough of Hounslow Swim Club received £25,237 to support young carers gain much-needed respite and get active.

  • Hounslow Youth Counselling Service received £20k to offer free counselling for young people struggling with their mental health.

  • Feltham Arts Association received £11,496 to deliver art sessions at sheltered accommodation and to tackle social isolation.

  • Inclusive Joyful Activities received £10k for a social club in Heston that supports adults with additional needs.

Lisa Graham, Head Coach at London Borough of Hounslow Swimming Club, said:

This investment reflects the Council’s commitment to support carers of all ages and strengthen community wellbeing. By offering accessible, enjoyable, health-focused activities at Hanworth Leisure Centre, the initiative aims to reduce isolation and create positive experiences for both young carers and those they care for.

We are thrilled to be given the opportunity to deliver this much-needed meaningful project.

All grants reflect the Council’s pledge to deliver a borough that is greener, cleaner, safer, healthier - ensuring residents have the opportunity to thrive and live in communities where they can flourish.

Councillor Grewal, Cabinet Member for Residents Support, Communities and Equalities at Hounslow Council, highlighted the Council’s commitment to the voluntary sector:

This funding is so much more than the money: it’s about investing in the social fabric of communities across Hounslow.

With many of these projects proving a lifeline for our residents, this funding aims to strengthen its impact on our most vulnerable residents.
