There is different guidance if you live in a flat above a shop.
There is a communal bin store for your housing block. You should put your rubbish and recycling in the correct bin, which is marked clearly.

You can put in:

You can't put in:

- shredded paper
- coated paper (plastic, foil, glitter)
Mixed glass
You can put in:
- glass bottles

You can't put in:
- lightbulbs
- crockery and pyrex
- drinking glasses
Tins, cans and aerosols
You can put in:
- drink cans
- food cans
- aluminium foil

You can put in:
- meat and bones
- leftovers and plate scrapings

Collections from flats above shops
We collect rubbish from flats above shops twice a week.
Everything should go in purple sacks that we provide. If you use any other kind of bag, this is treated as flytipping.
On Mondays and Thursdays we collect from:
- Central Hounslow, up to and including Lampton Road
- Chiswick
- Brentford
- Isleworth
- Hounslow East
On Tuesdays and Fridays we collect from:
- Central Hounslow west of Lampton Road
- Bedfont
- Cranford
- Feltham
- Hanworth
- Heston
- Hounslow West
Enquiries
You should contact us if:
- you are not sure where to put your purple sacks out for collection
- you've run out of sacks (we deliver four times a year)
Other materials you can recycle
Textiles
To recycle clothing, textiles and shoes you can:
- take them to the Reuse and Recycling Centre
- take them to one of 16 Salvation Army textile banks in the borough
- request a free home collection from the charity TRAID
- take them to your local charity shop if they're in good condition
Batteries
You can take batteries to:
- your local supermarket
- the Reuse and Recycling Centre
You must not put batteries in your communal rubbish bin.
Small electrical items
You can visit Recycle Your Electricals to find places where you can recycle electrical items near you.
Furniture
With furniture that's in good condition you can:
- donate it to the Hounslow furniture project (chargeable service)
- give it to someone else through Freegle
Getting rid of large items
You can use our bulky waste service to arrange collection of a large item.
You will need your managing agent's approval to store your waste in a communal area before booking.
Please clearly label the items with the date of collection and service request number, which we will provide when you book.
