Recycling in schools

Textile recycling

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army has a dedicated website called Recycle with Michael for schools. There is information on how to sign up as well as educational information and materials to be used in classrooms and assemblies to support education on the importance of recycling.

How does it work?

  • You can sign up directly with Salvation Army.
  • You can then set up or organise a donation day, Salvation Army will send you collection bags for pupils and staff to fill with their unwanted clothing and shoes to bring back to school.
  • They will then organise for one of their authorised collectors to pick up the donations.
  • They then provide a report on how much you have donated and send a certificate to display at your school.
  • The money raised from the sale of your donations is split equally between the Salvation Army and your school.
  • They also can provide downloadable support materials, including posters to promote this service.
