The Great British September Clean 2020
Be part of the pick
11-27 September 2020
Earlier this year Hounslow Council were all set to support the Great British Spring Clean, which was due to take place from 20 March - 13 April.
However, Keep Britain Tidy's first priority was to make sure everyone stayed safe and well, so they postponed this year's campaign due to Covid-19.
Now it's back and here's how you can get involved and show support for the Keep Britain Tidy Great British September Clean #GBSeptemberClean.
Building on the success of last year's Great British Spring Clean, with your help we were able to organise over 50 events, more than any other London borough, spanning many areas, within our parks and open spaces, on many of our streets, as well as in other community spaces. It made a real difference, with over 500 bags of litter being collected - 25 per cent of which was suitable for recycling in the borough.
How do I get involved?
- Whether it's an alleyway, or a neglected part of your local park near your home or work, then register to clean it up at www.keepbritaintidy.org and get your friends, colleagues, family and neighbours involved too. If you just want to come along to an existing clean-up that has already been organised, then you can find full details here too.
- Tell us about the clean-up event you're planning by emailing Cleaner.Greener@hounslow.gov.uk as we will be more than happy to give you some free bags, lend you litter pickers and arrange to collect your bagged, separated rubbish and recycling after your clean-up. This is also important to ensure your bags are not mistaken for flytipped waste.
- Once you have organised a clean-up, why not promote it on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Don't forget to tag us on Twitter (@LBofHounslow), Facebook (hounslowcouncil), Instagram (hounslowcouncil) and include the #GBSeptemberClean and #CleanerGreenerHounslow too, so that you can link with the main campaign online.
We hope you will join us in giving our borough a good clean-up this September!
