To be considered as a foster carer you don’t need to have previous experience of working with children or have children of your own.

You can become a foster carer if you:

  • have a spare room, if fostering children aged over two
  • live or work within reasonable distance of Hounslow borough
  • can take a child to and from school where necessary
  • can take a child to and from contact with their family
  • can take a child to health appointments
  • can meet a child’s educational needs
  • are in good health
  • can speak, read and write English
  • have indefinite leave to remain in the UK
  • are a legal, full-time resident of the UK (although British citizenship is not required)
  • are passionate about making a real difference to a child/young person’s life

Hounslow foster carers can be:

  • from any cultural or religious background
  • single, married or living with a partner
  • heterosexual or LGBT+
  • persons with disabilities
  • living in rented, owned or council property
  • a parent or someone who has experience of caring for children
