Corporate performance

Our goal is to deliver high quality, good value services. We use a range of information to identify where we are performing well and where we need to make more progress.

The corporate performance arm of the Strategy Performance and Commissioning team coordinates performance management. The team supports directorates in developing and refreshing the council's performance management framework and annual business plan.

Our approach

Our corporate plan explains our strategic priorities, reflecting specific manifesto pledges as well as a wider range of activity that supports our strategic intent.

The indicators of success in the corporate plan are not performance measures. We do not have direct control over these indicators, but it is our responsibility to strive to improve them in partnership with others. These indicators will be tracked over the course of the four-year lifecycle of the corporate plan and reported to Cabinet every year.

Corporate performance measures are priority service indicators tied to corporate plan themes and the organisation’s ‘corporate health’. They can be directly controlled by our work and reflect the organisation’s capability and capacity to deliver services.

Corporate performance information is reported to Cabinet quarterly. The reports provide insight on business-as-usual service delivery and complement frequent operational performance reviews.

Operational performance management

The corporate performance team also coordinates quarterly Finance, Performance & Risk (FP&R) meetings for all directorates. These meetings consider performance, finance and HR matters, with senior managers interrogating key service performance metrics and agreeing actions to tackle under performance or address risks.
