School admission appeals

You can make an appeal if you have not been offered a place at a preferred school. This is your legal right under The School Standards and Framework Act.

You cannot appeal for a place at a school if you had not selected that school as a preference in the first place.

You can make one appeal per school, in a single academic year, unless there are changed circumstances.

Your appeal will be heard by an independent panel.

There is no appeal process for a nursery school place, as this is not statutory education.

How to appeal

You make an appeal with us if the school you want a place at is a Hounslow community school. See a list of Hounslow community schools (PDF).

For all other schools, you need to contact the school directly.

  1. Read the guidance on making an appeal: School admissions appeals guide (PDF)
  2. Complete and submit an appeal form
