Adoption of the Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation SPD (2025)
This Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) facilitates the delivery of sustainable, zero carbon buildings which are adapted to the changing climate by providing detailed advice on building fabric and services. This complements the broader design guidance for new developments set out in the Hounslow Character, Sustainability and Design Codes SPD (2024). Together, these SPDs inform the development and implementation of the Programmes set out in the Corporate Delivery Plan (adopted July 2022) such as Low Carbon Neighbourhoods, Liveable Places, the Asset Review and Localities Review. These all contribute to Hounslow’s Prosperity and Place Framework for regeneration and growth.

The statutory consultation on the emerging Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation SPD took place between 1st July and 31st July 2024. Comments and our responses are included in the statement of consultationare still being processed and it is our intetion that the final version of the SPD will be published later this year, alongside the adoption and consultation statements.
