Council pays tribute to former Councillor Leslie Bawn

Hounslow Council regrets to announce the passing of former Councillor Leslie Bawn JP. He represented the Hanworth Ward between 1990 to 1994 and the Feltham South Ward between 1998 to 2002.

Former Councillor Bawn (known as Les) was raised and lived in Hanworth, and worked as a firefighter.

Mr Bawn was Mayor of the Borough in 1993-94 and served on a number of committees during his time on the Council including the Leisure Services Committee, the Employment Committee, the Pensioners Consultative Group, the Hounslow Benefit Review Board and the Transport and Cleansing Committee.

He was also appointed to several external bodies including the Hanworth Village Hall Management Committee and the South West Middlesex Crematorium Board.   

Councillor Shantanu Rajawat, Leader of Hounslow Council, said:

I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of former Councillor Bawn. My thoughts are with his family and friends.  

Mr Bawn's unwavering dedication to public service and his profound influence on the community will be sorely missed but never forgotten. His memory will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him, and his contributions will resonate throughout the borough for generations to come.

The Council will pay tribute to Mr Bawn at its meeting in May 2024.   

To mark the death of the Councillor a black ribbon has been placed around the Hounslow Council flag in main reception at Hounslow House.
