Families can attend this free event and learn more about enriching summer offers available for eligible children in the borough.

With over 20 HAF providers, the Summer Festival will be a one-stop shop for families looking for free and fun summer holiday activities. The Festival will run from 2pm to 8pm.

All are welcome to the Festival, however the eligibility for the full HAF offer is for children living in the borough who are aged between 5 to 16 and are entitled to benefit related free school meals. Eligible children can attend a four-hour activity session for 16 days, between Monday, 24 July and Friday, 1 September with a free, nutritious meal per day.

There are also paid places for summer activities. Families can come along and meet the HAF providers, book the activities while at the event and enjoy the celebration to the start of the summer holidays.

Hosted across 53 sites in Hounslow, the HAF summer activities include:

  • Science, technology, engineering or computer coding
  • Football, basketball, cycling, tennis, athletics or gymnastics
  • Drama, music, arts and crafts
  • Environment, cooking and nutrition workshops
  • Canoeing, nature walk, trips or visits

Sessions will also include coach training and an introduction to construction, which can provide a pathway to work placements and apprenticeships for those aged 12 to 16.

The Leader of Hounslow Council, Councillor Shantanu Rajawat, said:

“The HAF programme is incredibly popular and this year’s programme is even more extensive than previous years. Feedback from parents has always been positive with many parents highlighting the substantial improvements in the wellbeing of children. They can make new friends, stay active and have the opportunity to try new and exciting activities. I encourage families to book in and take full advantage of the activities on offer.”

Bookings for the Summer HAF programme are now open and families can use the Evoucher scheme for booking all the summer activities directly with the providers. For more information about Hounslow Council Summer HAF programmes, please visit Family Services Directory Hounslow.

Parents and carers can learn about other summer activities across the borough, including Ofsted Registered Playschemes, ‘Short Breaks’ programme for disabled children and parks to visit via the website here.
