Hounslow’s hugely popular Summer of Culture returns in June with a rhythmical dance show at Hounslow’s Bell Square on Saturday 17 June, the live performance called Prelude, which will be delivered by French hip-hop dance company Cie Accrorap. Delivered by Watermans as part of Bell Square programming, this event will be one of hundreds of amazing arts and cultural activities held between June and September 2023 - many of which are free of charge and family friendly.

Building on the success of Hounslow’s Summer of Culture 2022, communities and organisations including art centres, historic houses, museums and libraries have come together to create a 2023 programme ready to bring residents and visitors to Hounslow through a dazzling array of events, activities and performances. Events include:

  • Live street performances
  • Film screenings in green and residential spaces
  • Outdoors art trails
  • Exhibitions in libraries and community venues featuring dynamic stories of people in Hounslow

Councillor Shivraj Grewal, Cabinet Member for Communities, Equalities and Culture, said: “We are excited to bring the Summer of Culture back to Hounslow this summer. Our Summer of Culture was so successful last year, as our communities, arts organisations and cultural providers delivered a programme showcasing the very best of arts and culture in Hounslow. We want to continue this legacy, a Summer of Culture programme that is for everyone to do, see and experience and that celebrates Hounslow’s places, spaces, and the rich diversity of our people.”

Among the highlights will be the popular ‘Films on the Green’ organised by Hounslow Council’s Events team, which will be returning to parks, the riverside and residential spaces. Eight movies, featuring a mix of musical and animations, will be available throughout July, August and September. The screenings are free to attend, and bookings are required to avoid disappointment.

Outdoor performances will be part of the Feltham Festival and the South Asian Outdoor Festival ‘Anhad’ will take over Hounslow High Street in August. The Creative Mile will showcase the richness of creativity in Brentford in September and our partners will be providing opportunities to participate and explore culture in venues and on the streets.
