An employer is speaking with two young people at a job fair.

To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, Hounslow Council is hosting an event to showcase exciting apprenticeship opportunities available for local young people.

The Limitless Apprenticeship and Jobs Fair will take place at Hounslow House on Tuesday, 10 February, featuring local employers, education and training providers from a wide range of industries and sectors. These include West London NHS Trust, West Thames College, The King’s Trust, National Physical Laboratory (NPL), NatWest, Cisco, Ajar Technology and more.

The event is free to attend and will showcase various opportunities, including apprenticeships, volunteering and training. Young people will also be able to access support with applications from a team of experienced advisors from the Council.

The fair will run across two sessions:

  • Morning session (10am – 12pm): Exclusively for Year 10 to 13 students from secondary schools in the borough and West Thames College.
  • Afternoon session (1pm – 3pm): Open to all young people aged 16 and over who are seeking an employment or training opportunity.  This includes young people with SEND and those with care experience who may need extra support to access education and employment pathways. Families and carers are also welcome to attend.

Councillor Samia Chaudhary, Cabinet Member for Education, Children, Skills and Employment at Hounslow Council, said:

Young people can benefit enormously from apprenticeships where they can gain real work experience while studying for qualifications ranging from foundation to degree level. Alongside apprenticeships, there are many options such as volunteering and training that can help young people take their first steps towards achieving their education and employment goals.

Our Youth Skills and Employment Guarantee (YSEG) programme, launched in 2023, has supported about 4,000 young people to overcome challenges in accessing and progressing in skills, training and employment. We’re committed to unlocking their full potential and empowering them to thrive.

The Council is invested in developing talent by promoting apprenticeship opportunities for young people and by supporting the upskilling of current staff. A celebration event will be held to recognise the achievements of Council apprentices who have completed their programmes over the past two years.
