On Wednesday night, 25 local heroes were celebrated by Hounslow Council at its annual Community Stars awards.
The event, which recognises individuals, groups and organisations who go above and beyond to improve the lives of others, took place at Hounslow House on Wednesday, 24 September.
With support from sponsors Hounslow Herald, Community Stars attendees were welcomed by Council Leader, Councillor Shantanu Rajawat. He spoke about Hounslow’s strength as a diverse borough and his pride in celebrating the extraordinary people, groups, and organisations gathered.
Councillor Dan Bowring, ward councillor for Syon and Brentford Lock, spoke about the importance of recognising the generosity and selflessness of Hounslow’s community stars and invited winners up to the stage to receive their awards.
Winners included BEfriend, a local charity that does important work connecting trained volunteers with socially isolated people and Can You Challenge, which offers free football sessions to local children promoting teamwork, resilience, and self-belief.
Cllr Shantanu Rajawat said:
Hounslow is one of the most diverse and dynamic places in the country and what makes it special is the spirit of its people. Our Community Stars winners have shown kindness, creativity and resilience through their work in our local communities.
Our awards ceremony recognises those achievements, inspiring us all to keep working together for a stronger, greener, fairer borough.
