Parents and carers in Hounslow now have access to an additional 750 same-day GP appointments every month for children aged 0–4 years, as part of a new initiative to give families quicker, safer care,
Evening appointments will be offered between 5.30 pm and 8.30 pm, Monday to Friday, and are designed to make it easier for busy families to see a GP quickly when their child is unwell with symptoms that cannot be treated at home.
Parents are encouraged to first check their child’s symptoms on the Hounslow Healthier Together website before deciding where best to seek care.
Dr Manal Karrar, Lead GP at Brentford Family Practice, said:
We know how stressful it can be when your child is unwell and you’re not sure where to turn.
The new evening clinics for children aged 0-4 years aim to give parents more timely access to local GPs for urgent same-day concerns such as fevers, rashes, coughs, or infections, helping to avoid unnecessary visits to A&E.
Dr Khaled Bizanti, Paediatric Consultant at West Middlesex University Hospital, said
When a child is unwell, we know how worrying it can be for parents. But not every illness needs a hospital visit. I would strongly encourage parents to check symptoms online first using the Hounslow Healthier Together website before heading to A&E.
Often, your GP can help manage your child’s condition safely and quickly, and now, with these extra appointments, there are even more ways to get that care locally.
Dr. Amit Gupta, Hounslow Medical Director and Hounslow GP, said:
This is a major step forward in making healthcare more accessible for our youngest residents. By increasing same-day GP appointments, we are ensuring that parents can get timely, expert support for their children, close to home.
This is about helping parents to avoid unnecessary visits to A&E, and making sure children get the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
