A message from Councillor Shantanu Rajawat, Leader of Hounslow Council.
"Hounslow is one of the most diverse boroughs in London, home to people of every background, culture, faith and community. Our diversity is our greatest strength, and it makes Hounslow the vibrant, welcoming and successful place we are proud to call home.
"We know that recent events and demonstrations may cause anxiety and concern. I want to reassure everyone who lives, works or studies in Hounslow that we stand firmly against hatred, racism and division. There is no place in our borough for those who seek to intimidate or divide our communities.
"For generations, people from across the world have chosen to make Hounslow their home. They have enriched our borough with their skills, creativity, traditions and energy. Our strength lies in the fact that we live, work and grow side by side, with respect, understanding and unity.
"As Leader of the Council, I want to be clear: we will always confront hate with hope, and division with solidarity. We are committed to working closely with the Police, our faith and community leaders, and partners across the borough to keep our communities safe, to challenge intolerance and to protect the sense of belonging that defines Hounslow.
"We all have a role to play in keeping Hounslow safe, inclusive and welcoming. By standing together, celebrating our diversity and supporting one another, we make Hounslow stronger."
