Community groups across Hounslow are being invited to apply for a share of £150,000 to deliver projects that cut carbon emissions, boost energy efficiency, and lower running costs.
Now in its fourth round, Hounslow Council’s Community Energy Fund offers grants of up to £40,000 per project.
The funding is open to voluntary organisations, tenants’ and residents’ associations, faith and equality groups, and includes groups new to energy initiatives.
Projects eligible for support could include:
- Retrofitting community buildings with energy-saving insulation, installing double glazing and energy-saving LED light bulbs.
- Installing solar panels on community buildings.
- Installing carbon-friendly heat pumps to cut carbon emissions and reduce energy bills.
Applications for this round of funding opened this week and close on 9 December 2025.
Councillor Katherine Dunne, Cabinet Member for Climate, Environment and Transport at Hounslow Council, said:
Our community organisations provide an invaluable service to our residents here in Hounslow, and that’s why I’m so delighted to be launching the fourth round of this vital funding.
Whether you're planning to retrofit a community hall, install solar panels, or transform heating systems, this is your chance to make a lasting impact.
As well as delivering reduced carbon emissions across the borough, these projects will lower running costs and help ensure that our community organisations can continue to provide lifelines for residents for many years to come.
The Parish of Brentford, a previous recipient of the fund, used their grant to install solar panels at St Paul’s Church.
Quentin Bradley, from the Parish of Brentford, said:
Everyone at the Parish of Brentford is very grateful to Hounslow Council for awarding us a Community Energy Fund grant to support our solar panels installation at St Paul's Church, Brentford.
The solar panels have reduced our energy bills, which has in turn allowed us to reinvest those funds into supporting our communities.
The Climate and Strategic Programmes team members were very friendly and responsive, and they supported us through the whole application process.
Funded through carbon offset contributions from developers, and now, for the first time, through direct resident investment through the Hounslow Green Investment programme, the initiative supports Hounslow’s ambition to reduce carbon emissions and deliver a cleaner and greener borough.
