Hounslow Youth Council

The Hounslow Youth Council (HYC) is calling on enthusiastic young people to join and help shape a brighter future across the borough.

HYC offers a fun and engaging platform where young people can collaborate and deliver impactful projects, workshops, and events.

Members work alongside key decision-makers within Hounslow Council and the broader community, ensuring that young people’s needs and ideas are central to shaping services and opportunities.

In recent years these have included a specific report that contributed towards shaping the borough’s response to knife crime and community safety. The youth council also worked with the transport team to review school bus routes and have collaborated consistently with the Council’s communications team in sharing ideas around engagement and Hounslow’s youth policy.

In addition to local impact, HYC also partners with the wider Youth Parliament to represent Hounslow on a national stage.

Councillor Samia Chaudhary, Cabinet Member for Education, Children, Skills, and Employment at Hounslow Council, said:  "Young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are the change-makers of today. The Hounslow Youth Council is a powerful example of what can happen when we listen to young voices and empower them to deliver. I encourage the borough’s youth from all communities right across the borough to get involved, share their ideas, and help shape a Hounslow that truly reflects their hopes and ambitions."

Beyond advocacy, HYC organises social events that foster creativity, community spirit, and leadership among its members while every year, the youth council delivers an annual conference, bringing together all sectors of the community to highlight their work.

Young people lead the calendar of events, so if you become a member, you will shape the next year!  If you are interested in becoming part of this exciting movement, get in touch and share why you want to join the HYC.
