This October, Hounslow Council and Healthy Hounslow are supporting the national Stoptober campaign, offering free local advice and support to help residents kick the habit.

Hounslow Council is encouraging residents to take the first step towards a smoke-free future during this year’s four-week Stoptober challenge.

The best way to do this in Hounslow is to sign up for Healthy Hounslow’s stop smoking service. It provides free, personalised support including one-to-one sessions, access to nicotine replacement therapies or a free nicotine vape, and advice on how to stay smoke-free for good.

Healthy Hounslow’s trained advisers can support residents to set a quit date, cope with cravings, and stay motivated throughout the 28-day Stoptober challenge. Even when Stoptober ends, Healthy Hounslow’s support will continue to ensure people can carry on with their smoke-free journey.

Rewards for quitting

Healthy Hounslow is also teaming up with health app BetterPoints to help incentivise people to quit smoking this Stoptober. Hounslow residents can earn BetterPoints to the equivalent of £50 if they quit smoking with Healthy Hounslow.

These can be exchanged for high street or supermarket vouchers, or donated to charity.

Councillor Lily Bath, Hounslow Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Public Health and Transformation at Hounslow Council, said:

Quitting smoking is one of the most important steps people can take to improve their health and wellbeing.

Stoptober is a great opportunity to get the right support, and Healthy Hounslow’s stop smoking service has already helped hundreds of residents to start their journey. It’s one of the many ways the Council is delivering for Hounslow residents and helping them live longer, healthier lives.

I’d encourage everyone thinking about quitting to sign up for Healthy Hounslow’s stop smoking service today.
