What is the Summer Reading Challenge?
The long hot summer holidays are soon to be upon us. That means it is time for your child to take part in the Summer Reading Challenge (SRC), the FREE annual celebration of reading which is held in libraries nationwide. The SRC, organised by the Reading Agency, is an annual reading scheme held during the summer holidays to encourage children to read.

How do I take part?
Children need to be a member of the library, then they can sign-up to the reading challenge. Once signed-up, they read books, collecting fab small prizes along the way. Those children lucky enough finish the challenge, by reading six books, will receive a medal and certificate.
There is a full range of FREE specially linked craft activities for children to take part in and encourage them to take part in the reading challenge. Check the event calendar or download the What’s On Guide for further details.
This year the theme of the SRC is Animal Agents; official illustrations are provided by popular children’s writer and illustrator, Tony Ross.
