Handy person scheme

The Council’s Handyperson scheme can carry out minor repairs and small maintenance jobs to your home, at a subsidised rate, if you are eligible. If you want help and advice for larger repairs, improvements or adaptations, we may be able to help.

All Handyperson operatives are Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checked (formerly known as Criminal Records Bureau - CRB checks).

Who can use the Handyperson Scheme?

The service is offered to owner occupiers who live in the London Borough of Hounslow.

The Handyperson scheme is available to you if you:

  • have a disability or severe health problem preventing you from carrying out the repair yourself
  • are a single parent with a disabled child
  • are aged 65 years and over

Private tenants may use the service for jobs that are not the responsibility of their landlord (for example, putting up shelves or assembling flat pack furniture).

If you are a social housing tenant you should report repairs to your Housing Officer.
