Public Health: Community Champions

The London Borough of Hounslow is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. Through this Privacy Notice we have sought to be as transparent as possible and fully explain how your personal data is held and processed.

This privacy notice applies to services provided by London Borough of Hounslow Public Health Community Champions and tells you what to expect us to do with your personal information. Why is information being collected?

The role of Community Champions is to share messages provided by the London Borough of Hounslow Public Health team, with their networks. Your contact details are essential to volunteer to receive and share the messages.

Some messages provided may be aimed for specific wards, thus we would require your postcode to ensure you receive area appropriate information.

The personal data we collect will be used for the following purpose:

  • To contact you to share public health messages with your network
  • To invite you to Community Champion meetings and training

What type of information we are collecting?

We currently collect and process the following information:

  • Full Name
  • Contact Number
  • Contact Email
  • Postcode

How do we get your information?

The personal information we process is provided to us directly by you either face to face and through filling a form or upon completion of the Community Champions sign-up form on the Ealing and Hounslow Community Volunteer Sector web page.

Our lawful basis for processing your information

The lawful basis we rely on for processing this information is

  • Consent – You must consent for us to contact you as part of the Community Champion programme

Who your information may be shared with (internally and externally)

The London Borough of Hounslow is committed to keeping your personal data safe. Your personal data will be safely stored and only accessed by the Community Engagement Officers in the Public Health Department of the London Borough of Hounslow.

For champions consenting to be contacted via WhatsApp, your personal data will be shared in line with WhatsApp European Region Privacy Policy

We will not share your personal data with any internal and external recipients. If you would like to volunteer for projects with internal and external Public Health partners, your personal data will be shared with your explicit consent.

How long we keep your information

We keep the personal data you provide to us via the online sign-up form for up to year. We will send annual expression of interest forms to re-confirm your interest in the Community Champion programme. Individuals not wishing to re-new their interest or those who do not respond within two weeks, will have their data securely disposed.

All the information you provide us is held within the European Economic Area

The rights available to you depend on our reason for processing your information.
