Child work permits

The law requires us to enforce the regulation of child employment.

All children aged 13 or over are required to have a work permit by law:

  • who are of compulsory school age
  • who have paid part-time employment
  • who work in the London Borough of Hounslow.

This is the case even if they are working for their parents.

Children under the age of 13 are not allowed to work

In agreement with the child and parent, the employer is required to submit a child employment application form to us within the first five days of employment with a current passport size photograph and a copy of the birth certificate..

The form is designed to help regulate the protection, health, safety and welfare of children. Employers who employ children and do not apply for a work permit are breaking the law and may be prosecuted.

Download the form below or alternatively you can contact us to arrange for a copy of the form to be sent to you.
