Documentation needed for housing application

Please upload the following documentation to your account within 30 days of submitting your application. If you do not submit all required documentation within 30 days, your application may be closed as we will be unable to verify your application.

We may require further documentation from you after we have reviewed the information you have provided, if this is the case we will contact you via the contact details you provided on your application form to let you know what information you need to provide, and how long you have to provide it.

Proof of identification – All Members of Household:

UK Citizens

Option 1

  • Provide a valid UK Passport
  • A full Birth Certificate must be provided for all of your children included in your housing application, regardless of age.

Option 2

You must provide one of the following:

  • Provide a British Birth certificate if born before 1983.
  • Provide a British Birth certificate and proof of one parent’s citizenship if born after 1983.
  • A certificate of naturalisation or registration certificate.

You must also provide in addition to the above:

  • A form of valid photo ID, such a a Driving license (UK or EU), a PASS card, or a blue badge. Other forms of photo ID may be accepted.
  • A full Birth Certificate must be provided for all of your children included in your housing application, regardless of age.
Non-UK Citizens
  • Provide a form of valid photo ID, such a a Driving license (UK or EU), a PASS card, or a blue badge.
  • In addition to the above, use the government’s eVisa platform and upload an image of your share-code.

Proof of Address History – 7 Years

  • Provide one document dated for each year of the last 7 years. This can include utility bills, council tax bills, and tenancy agreements. This only needs to be provided for the main applicant, and joint applicant.
  • Most applicants will need to evidence that they have lived in Hounslow for 5 of the last 7 years. However, some exceptions do apply, which can be found in our allocations policy on our website.

Proof of income: 

  • Payslips for the last 9 months for all working adults in your household.
  • Bank statements for the last 9 months for all adults in your household, including adult children. This must include all accounts, including savings accounts.
  • Benefit statements for the last 9 months for all adults in your household, including adult children. If a benefit does not provide a regular statement, provide the letter you received that states the benefit you have been awarded, and how much money you receive from that benefit.
