What is Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG)?
The United Nations defines violence against women and girls as ‘any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or psychological harm’.
It includes: -
- Domestic Abuse
- Sexual Violence and Abuse (including Rape)
- Coercion and control
- Stalking
- Forced Marriage
- Female Genital Mutilation
- So called honour-based violence
- Sexual Exploitation/trafficking of women and girls.
