How we protect your data and uphold your rights.
We follow UK data protection laws, including:
- UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
- Data Protection Act 2018
- the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025
We ensure your data is:
- processed lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner
- collected for a specific and legitimate purpose, meaning it will not be used for anything other than this stated purpose
- relevant and limited to whatever the requirements are for which it is processed
- accurate and, where necessary, kept up to date, with any inaccuracies amended or removed without undue delay
- stored for as long as required, as specified in the retention schedule
- secured with appropriate solutions, which protect the data against unauthorised or unlawful processing and against accidental loss, destruction or damage
We do not always need consent to process data lawfully. We can lawfully process personal data as long as a condition is met.
Example: We would be unlikely to collect Council Tax arrears if a resident could withdraw their consent for processing their data for this.
In certain circumstances, you have the right to know how your data has been processed and to make requests. See: Your rights
