Deafblindness is a combination of hearing and sight loss where those senses are distorted, reduced, or absent entirely.
Although most deafblind children/adults have some usable vision and/or hearing, some are profoundly deaf and totally blind. Deafblindness can vary from person to person based on the cause, level of hearing/vision loss, and additional disabilities.
It’s estimated that nearly half a million people in the UK are deafblind with the majority aged 70+.
