Request a parking suspension in your area

Residents, businesses and utility companies with  are entitled to apply to suspend parking spaces (or part of a space) for reasons such as:

• house moves
• building/maintenance works
• placing a skip 
• holdoing special events

In the case of house moves, if there are no spaces in front of the property in question, it may be possible, again with prior approval, to suspend single or double-yellow lines instead (depending on the location).

You can also request a special dispensation to park for a funeral.

How to apply

You will need to apply at least ten working days before you need the space. Exceptions can be made in an emergency eg for emergency utility works, although you will need to provide evidence as to why the standard 10 days can’t be met.

Skips

If you want to leave a skip in a parking bay/space, you will need an approved parking bay suspension before getting a skip permit (Hounslow Highways website) otherwise you may risk incurring a fine.

Parking on yellow lines/yellow line waivers

In the absence of parking bays reasonably close to where you need the suspension to be, you can request permission to park a specific vehicle on single or double yellow lines for an agreed period.

Parking for a funeral

On the street outside the family home

You can request permission to park up to four vehicles outside the family home prior to the funeral taking place, including the funeral vehicles. If you need more parking spaces, you need to use visitor parking permits.

At the funeral venue

Within reason, people attending a funeral service are allowed to park on single yellow lines within the vicinity of where the ceremony is taking place, for up to two hours. The venue needs to request this at least five days before the funeral is due to take place. If necessary, we can provide traffic cones to cordon off an area (you will need to request this).

Drivers must leave a note on the dashboard or car window confirming they are attending a funeral on a particular date and time (Civil Enforcement Officers on patrol may check that a funeral is taking place).

You cannot request parking in a restricted area for wakes or ceremonies which take place after the funeral service.
