We will provide an environmental search report, which comprises information from our digital records relating to the site and land within a 250m radius; the information will be provided in the form of an automated search report.
The search includes:
- industrial history from the late 1800s to the 1970s
- details from our Landfill Public Register
- details from our Contaminated Land Public Register
- a list of available site reports held at the Civic Centre
- the current status of the site with regard to Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act
We can only provide factual information; we cannot offer opinions or interpret the data. If you require interpretation of the information you should seek the advice of a third party environmental consultant.
Please note: we cannot provide full copies of site reports, but you are welcome to visit the Civic Centre to view these reports and make photocopies if you wish. Reports are available to view during normal office hours.
We can only provide information for areas that fall within our administrative boundary.
The regulations state that we are able to make a reasonable charge for providing this information. Our current charging rate is £136 for a standard search (electronic report only) and £141 for a printed and posted report. Both charges include VAT. More complicated requests may incur further charges; if this is applicable, an officer will contact you and inform you of the charge before commissioning the search.
The timescale for providing the information is 20 working days from the day payment is received by the London Borough of Hounslow. The end date is taken to be the day that we post the information to you. If, for whatever reason, we cannot deal with your request within this period we will contact you.
Payment can be made online at the time of ordering using a credit or debit card. If you are unable to provide payment at the time of placing your order payment can be made online using our online payment system.
We reserve the right to refuse requests that are not deemed to be of a reasonable nature. In such cases we will contact you to discuss how the request could be revised.
Making a complaint
Please contact us if you are not satisfied that we have dealt with your request in accordance with the Environmental Information Regulations. If we are unable to resolve the issue, you have the right to make a complaint via our formal complaints procedures: www.hounslow.gov.uk/complain.
If you remain dissatisfied following our review of your complaint, you may take your complaint to the Information Commissioner who may take enforcement action if they believe we have not complied with the regulations.
Please note that the regulations also make provision for the council to appeal against an enforcement decision made by the Information Commissioner
